T-44

Whilst a lot of the stuff I post is fictional, this one's real, though maybe a bit obscure. The T-44 was produced late in the war as a replacement for the T-34/85 (using the same turret), with a few hundred being built. However, by that stage victory was certain and instead the T-44 was kept secret from the Western Allies. Post-War it saw little combat service in its original guise, though the late model T-44/100; better known as the T-54, became the most produced tank in history. 

This one uses a Blitzkrieg Miniatures T-54 as a starting point. I moved the turret ring forward and replaced it with a T-34/85 turret by Rubicon Miniatures. To date the model a bit compared to the Cold War T-54 the road wheels were replaced along with bits of the stowage.
